A large crowd gathered at Centenary Square on Wednesday morning as Birmingham paid tribute to those who have given their lives for Britain.
In line with the traditional ceremony, a bugler in military dress played the Last Post before the two minutes silence was observed.
Click to view slideshow.As the clock struck 11 am, soldiers stationed at the Hall of Memory fired blank rounds into the sky to initiate the bowing of heads and the subsequent silence to remember those who had died for their country since the First World War.
The silence was only broken by a second round of gunfire by the soldiers from 37 Signal Regiment.
